The Spanish government yesterday condemned the terrorist attack perpetrated in the Iranian town of Kerman, which left more than 80 people dead and some 200 injured.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Spanish government “expresses its solidarity with the people of Iran, as well as its condolences to the families of the victims and its wishes for a speedy recovery to the wounded”.
The bloodiest attack on Iran since its 1979 Islamic Revolution was committed on Wednesday during a rally commemorating the US-attributed death of General Qassem Soleimani, head of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guard Quds Force, in 2020.
Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei threatened “a harsh response” to those responsible for the attack.
Yesterday, the Islamic State terrorist group claimed responsibility for the double attack in a statement released through its propaganda channels and picked up by the jihadist information monitoring portal SITE. In the statement, the group also claimed it was a suicide bombing.
