The Andalusian engineering company UG21 has been awarded, in consortium with Sener, a new contract with Aeropuertos del Perú (AdP) for an amount of 18.9 million dollars (17.2 million euros), corresponding to the pre-investment studies of the airports of Iquitos, Pucallpa and Tarapoto, all three located in the Amazon region of the country.
With an execution period of 390 days for each one, the projects will be carried out under the BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodology and applying the criteria of sustainable buildings that allow obtaining LEED certification. As part of the contract, demand studies, environmental evaluations, analysis of development alternatives and simulations on the land side and air side of said aerodromes are included, as reported by UG21 in a statement.
AdP is the concessionaire company in charge of the design, improvement in infrastructure and quality of service, maintenance, operation and exploitation of airports located in a dozen municipalities in northern and central Peru.
Ozgur Unay, president of UG21, stated that it is an “enormous responsibility to be responsible for planning the development of airports in the Amazon region of Peru, an area that faces the challenge of improving its connectivity in order to promote competitiveness and development.” , while protecting and conserving its ecosystem”.
For his part, the firm’s managing director, Manuel González Moles, pointed out that this award will be a decisive pillar for the Horizon 2025 strategic plan and will allow them to “expand the current workforce and generate stability on a day-to-day basis.”
These interventions in Peru strengthen the presence of UG21 in the international market, which in 2022 accounted for 80% of its global turnover, and reinforce the weight of the airport branch, which already represents 60% of the project portfolio, which ends to exceed 30 million euros for the first time, a record in the two decades of history of this Sevillian engineering company.
In this area, the award last July of the drafting of building projects in 23 of the 46 Spanish airports managed by AENA stands out.
UG21 and Sener have been collaborating for years and have already developed several planning projects in Mexico, Peru and Colombia in UTE.
Apart from this contract with AdP, in recent weeks they have also been awarded the development of the Master Plan for the Edén Airport located in Armenia (Colombia) for an amount of 2.2 million dollars and a period of 12 months, as well as the preparation of the Technical File for the Investment of Rehabilitation of the Air Side and Marginal Expansion of the Perimeter Fence of the International Airport of the City of Trujillo (Peru), for 1.9 million dollars and a period of one year.
