The Diplomat
The Diplomatic Club of Madrid is born today with a vocation of service for embassies and also for companies, in a world where diplomacy is fundamentally focused on promoting economic relations.
Madrid is one of the world’s major cities for diplomatic representation. As a member state of the European Union, it maintains privileged links with Latin America, the Maghreb, the Middle East and other world geographic scenarios.
Spain has a first-rate embassy presence. This provides an opportunity to establish contacts, dialogue and all kinds of relations that are extremely useful for international politics.
All of this at a time of historical upheaval, full of uncertainty, which requires more than ever active diplomacy in favour of peace and coexistence. The diplomatic role today is of superlative value and being useful in this task is the raison d’être of the Diplomatic Club of Madrid. It was created with a vocation of service for embassies and also for the private sector, which needs to interact in a world where economic diplomacy is becoming more and more important.
Fostered by Prestomedia and through its digital newspaper, The Diplomat in Spain, the Diplomatic Club will open its doors today at 6 p.m. in the Dry Martini space (C/Ferraz, 2), with a Christmas drink during which the ambassadors will be informed of the Club’s programme for the coming months.
In the two monthly sessions planned, members of the Government, politicians, businessmen, representatives of the world of culture and Spanish civil society will pass through the halls of the Club. The ambassadors will be able to have direct contact with them, in a relaxed atmosphere and away from the media spotlight, as the meetings will be held under the Chatham House rule.
The aim of the Diplomatic Club is to create and strengthen links between foreign embassies accredited in Spain and prominent economic, political and cultural actors.
