The Council of Ministers yesterday authorised the signing of the Contribution Agreement between the European Commission and the Kingdom of Spain on macro-financial assistance plus Ukraine, whose maximum contribution to be made by our country during the period 2024-2027 will be 237,558,508 euros.
The Spanish assistance will form part of the package of up to 50 billion euros approved by the European Commission and the European Parliament to support Ukraine’s efforts to maintain macro-financial stability, promote recovery and rebuild and modernise the country, while implementing key reforms on its path to EU accession during this period.
Spain has a maximum contribution of 237,558,508 euros distributed over four years, as each EU member state has a variable contribution that is determined by its relative share of the Union’s total gross national income (GNI).
This amount is spread equally over each year, with a maximum commitment of 59,389,627 euros to be made in each year.
The EU Regulation establishes this instrument to provide support to Ukraine in the form of loans, grants and interest rate subsidies, with the objective of contributing to the alleviation of its financing gap.
