The Diplomat
The Government has decided to supply armored vehicles to the Spanish Embassies in Israel and Haiti, as well as to the Consulate in Guayaquil (Ecuador) to provide them with greater security, given the risk situation in those countries.
Specifically, as revealed by the last Council of Ministers, a total of 559,582 Euros have been invested for the acquisition of four armored vehicles to provide protection to the personnel serving in the aforementioned diplomatic representations.
In the explanation of the reasons for adopting the decision, as a matter of urgency, it is pointed out “the situation of extreme insecurity in which the State of Israel finds itself”, although it does not expressly mention the war that this country is waging with the terrorist group Hamas in Gaza and other parts of the Palestinian Territories.
In the case of Haiti, the provision of armored vehicles to the Embassy in Port-au-Prince is justified due to the violence exercised by armed gangs”.
Finally, it is also considered necessary to provide an armored vehicle to the Embassy in Quito, due to the “worsening of the situation of instability and insecurity in Ecuador, especially in Guayaquil and the areas that make up the demarcation of the Consulate.
