The latest book by the Iranian activist and Nobel Peace Prize 2023 Narges Mohammadi, Tortura blanca (White Torture), will be presented this afternoon at 6 p.m. at the Centro Casa Asia in Madrid (Calle Mayor, 69).
In White Torture, Narges Mohammadi reveals the experiences of fourteen women, including herself, in the prisons of the Islamic Republic of Iran using the genre of the interview. Their life behind bars is subjected to all kinds of humiliation. The interviews in the book, conducted while all the prisoners were in jail or awaiting trial, are documents full of humanity, resilience and integrity. As Iranians continue to fight for the ‘Women, Life, Freedom’ movement, White Torture is a plea for human rights.
After some words of welcome by Emilio de Miguel, director of the Casa Asia Centre-Madrid, a conversation will take place between the husband of the author of the book, the journalist, political activist, writer and Iranian political prisoner, Taghi Rahmani, with the Spanish journalist and writer, former correspondent and special envoy of the newspaper El País, Ángeles Espinosa. During the presentation, we will have consecutive translation from Farsi into Spanish. Registration is essential at this link.
