The Business Council Alliance for Ibero-America (CEAPI) and the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) held a meeting last week in Quito, on the occasion of the inauguration of the new president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, to discuss business opportunities in that country.
With the slogan “CAF and the opportunities in Ecuador”, the event was led by Sergio Díaz-Granados, President of CAF, and Núria Vilanova, President of CEAPI.
During the meeting, Vilanova underlined CEAPI’s work to “promote dialogue with the presidents” of the different Ibero-American countries. She also emphasised that the government of Ecuador, headed by Daniel Noboa, “has established clear axes such as security, employment and opportunities for youth, and hopes to work together with the private sector to meet objectives”, objectives that CEAPI supports. “We collaborate with young people and entrepreneurs who, from tomorrow, have to start working for the country,” he said.
Furthermore, in his speech, Vilanova stressed that the key to development “is to be able to have growth through a social pact”.
For his part, Sergio Díaz-Granados affirmed that “the purpose of the Development Bank of Latin America is integration. That was the purpose from the beginning, a visionary act for the development of Latin America”. The CAF president clarified that “it is not a bank for Latin America, it is a bank of Latin America. It is owned by the countries of the region”.
Likewise, Díaz-Granados explained that recently “CAF has acquired a credit certification (AA+) that allows it to obtain the financing it requires to continue its work investing in the development of the region and to promote its dream of being present in 33 Latin American countries to analyse the issues that require group solutions”.
The presidents of Ibero-American companies and business families who attended the meeting were joined by the recently appointed ministers Roberto Luque, Minister of Transport and Public Works, and Juan Carlos Vega, Minister of Economy and Finance.
