The Diplomat
The Official State Gazette on Wednesday published the dismissal of the ambassador in Special Mission for Cybersecurity and Hybrid Threats, Nicolás Pascual de la Parte, who had held the post since August 2020, after having been Spain’s permanent representative to NATO, in the last government of Mariano Rajoy.
The agreement was adopted at Tuesday’s Council of Ministers, which also decided to add the competences relating to Hybrid Threats, but without reference to Cybersecurity, to the current Ambassador-at-Large for Digital Transformation, José Miguel Corvinos.
It has thus appointed José Miguel Corvinos Lafuente as Ambassador-at-Large for Digital Transformation and Hybrid Threats. A law graduate and diplomat since 1993, he has been ambassador to Cape Verde (2011-2014) and Malaysia, between 2018 and 2022. He has also been Deputy Consul General of Spain in Moscow (1997-1998), Second Head of the Spanish Embassy in Honduras (1998-2000) and Counsellor at the Spanish Embassy in France (2000-2004). In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he held, among other posts, the position of Head of the Technical Cabinet of the Undersecretary (2005-2007) and Deputy Director of the Cabinet of the Minister (2008-2010). He has also been Director General of Fisheries Resources and Aquaculture at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment (2015-2017).
