The Diplomat
The Embassy of Israel in Spain expresses “its strongest condemnation and total indignation“, according to a press release, “for the various anti-Israeli strikes and rallies that have been called by Spanish educational centers, and for the numerous cases of harassment and aggression against Jewish and Israeli students”.
“In these calls Israel is accused of genocide, murdering civilians and children,” continues the statement, which is an “anti-Israeli obsession” that, in its opinion, “contrasts with the shameful silence that was maintained in relation to the crimes against humanity perpetrated by Hamas on October 7.”
The note states that “it is unacceptable for schools and high schools to indoctrinate students and incite anti-Semitism” and adds that “educational authorities have an obligation to educate in tolerance, to avoid incitement to hatred in the classroom and to put an end to any manifestation of anti-Semitism”.
According to the Israeli diplomatic Mission, there have been “numerous cases in which Jewish and Israeli students have been subjected to physical and verbal aggression, harassment, discrimination, etc. in schools, high schools and universities”. The Embassy stresses that it lacks “the adoption of measures to prevent these incidents” and denounces “the silence of the educational community and the corresponding authorities”.
Therefore, it demands that “the necessary measures be taken to protect Jewish and Israeli students from any kind of attack and that the organization and convocation of anti-Israeli events by educational institutions be prohibited”.
