Fundación Scherzo brings Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov to Madrid

Next Thursday 30 November at 19.30 in the Symphonic Hall of the Auditorio Nacional de Música, the Fundación  Scherzo presents the return of Daniil Trifonov (in the photo) to its Great Performers Series.

Nicknamed the “Titan of the piano”, Daniil Trifonov returns to the Symphonic Hall of the National Auditorium to immerse the audience in his particular musical imaginary that captivates so much. P. Rameau, W. A. Mozart, F. Mendelssohn and L. Van Beethoven have been the composers chosen by the Russian pianist for this musical event.

The music of P. Rameau, with his Suite in A minor RCT 5, will open the programme to tell the story of the master of the French harpsichord. A work which, in the form of a suite, uses dance to discover some of the best-kept mysteries of the French style, its ornamentation, its peculiar sense of rhythm, its characteristic figurations which caused so much fervour in the salons of Versailles?

Sonata No. 12 in F major K 332 shows the Mozart who had just arrived in Vienna, eager to mark a before and after not only in the operatic world, but also in the concept of the independent musician who did not need a direct patron to support him.

Although he was still a composer almost unknown to the general public, the progress made by Felix Mendelssohn’s music in the perception of the romantic piano is undeniable. The Variations sérieuses in D minor, Op. 54 unveil the musical imagination of the musician from Hamburg in one of the formats most appreciated by the ordinary composer: the miniature.

Beethoven could not be absent from this evening dedicated to the piano, and Daniil Trifonov has chosen what is surely the most rapturous of the sonatas by the Master of Bonn to close this recital: the one known as Hammerklavier. A work of exacerbated heroism that is a tour de force for any pianist. Tickets for the concert can be purchased here.
