The Ministers of Foreign Affairs, José Mnauel Albares; and Defense, Margarita Robles, received yesterday afternoon, at the Torrejón air base (Madrid) 139 Spanish-Palestinians, evacuated throughout this week from Gaza.
In recent days, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs carried out an exit operation for Palestinians with Spanish passports who were in the Strip, subjected to attacks by Israel, after the attack carried out by Hamas on October 7.
Of the 143 evacuated and then transferred to Cairo, four have decided to remain in Egypt for family reasons, and the rest traveled to Madrid, on an Airbus A330 plane of the Air Force, which left Cairo at four-thirty in the dawn.
At the Torrejón base, Albares and Robles were waiting for them, along with the chief of the Defense Staff, Teodoro Esteban López. There were 67 minors on the plane (three of them less than one year old) and the rest adults (39 women and 33 men). Fifty-four are Palestinians and the rest (85) have dual nationality.
Within the Strip there is still another group of Spanish-Palestinians and their direct relatives of about 45 people, who registered on the lists at the last minute, and whose departure is already being processed and will take place at a soon-to-be-determined date.
