Last Tuesday, the Embassy of Serbia presented the photographic exhibition Applied Nostalgia, a project promoted by the Ministry of European Integration of the Republic of Serbia within the framework of the Spanish Presidency 🇪🇸 of the Council of the European Union, at the Espacio Cultural Serrería Belga in Madrid (Calle Alameda, 15).

The Serbian Ambassador, Katarina Lalić, said at the event that “this excellent work by two photographers, one Spanish, Virgilio Hernando Vañó, and the Serbian photographer Zoran Ilić, brings us even closer to the human level with a total of 40 photographs that show the similarities, places, scenes and people that remind them of the capitals of their respective countries – Madrid and Belgrade.

Present at the official ceremony was the acting Serbian Deputy Minister for European Integration, Miroslav Gacević, who expressed his gratitude to the two photographers represented, to the Serbian Embassy and to the Belgian Serbian Serbian Cultural Space “for the long and excellent work carried out” over a long period of time.

Finally, Raquel Gómez-Cambronero, Director General of Western Central and Southeast Europe, remarked “the deep links between Spain and Serbia through culture that this exhibition shows. In recent years, I have witnessed the efforts of bilateral relations between the two countries, whether in the political, commercial or cultural spheres, among others. This has materialised in high-level visits.

The main objective of the exhibition, which will be on display until 29 November, is to encourage cultural exchange between the two countries, as well as to promote European values and cooperation between Serbia and the EU member states.

The ambassadors of Slovenia, Malta, Bulgaria, Hungary, Cyprus, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Albania attended the event.
