In collaboration with the Embassy of the Argentine Republic, on Tuesday 21 November at 7 p.m., the Instituto Francés in Madrid will screen the latest film by the Argentine director Ulises de la Orden, El juicio, released this year and presented at the San Sebastian and Berlinale festivals.
The year 1985: two years after the end of the military dictatorship in Argentina, the main members of the junta are on trial in court. Ulises de la Orden creates 18 succinctly edited chapters from 530 hours of footage, bearing witness to state terrorism. For 90 days, the accounts of the horror were heard and a final sentence: Nunca Más (Never Again). From those who supported the dictatorship to the victims of the regime, the film paints a complete portrait of the period and helps to heal the wounds of the past.
Ulises de la Orden is director, screenwriter and producer. Born in Buenos Aires (1970), his production company, Polo sur cine, founded in 1998, makes films on social, historical, political and environmental themes, and has directed projects in Hungary, France, England, Chile, Argentina and Paraguay.
