Last week in Barcelona, the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) brought together a hundred young people from some 20 Euro-Mediterranean countries with the aim of encouraging the participation of young people in the green and digital transition, in the labor market and in decision-making bodies.
As reported by the UfM in a statement, at the meeting, held from November 6 to 9, topics such as climate change and youth unemployment, among others, were addressed.
The meeting took place within the framework of the Youth Engagement for a Sustainable Mediterranean event, organized by the UfM in Barcelona together with the Mediterranean Youth Foundation of Egypt, in collaboration with the Anna Lindh Foundation, IEMED and Casa Mediterráneo and with the sponsorship of GIZ.
The participants endorsed the ‘UfM Youth Agenda: call to action’, a set of proposals and recommendations for governments, international and regional organizations, and youth groups, to strengthen the role of young people in the face of the “enormous global challenges of looking forward to 2030”.
