La Filarmónica offers Liszt’s ‘Symphonic Poems’ at the Auditorio

The Chamber Hall of the Auditorio Nacional de Música will be the setting next Wednesday at 7.30 p.m. for a new date with La Filarmónica, which will offer the Symphonic Poems by Franz Liszt.

The pianists Edith Klukon and Dezsö Ránki (in the photo) will perform The Preludes: Symphonic Poem No. 3 – after Lamartine; Orpheus: Symphonic Poem No. 4 – inspired by an Etruscan vase; Tasso, lamento e trionfo: Symphonic Poem No. 2 – after Byron; Hamlet: Symphonic Poem No. 10 – after Shakespeare, and Die Ideale: Symphonic Poem No. 12 – after Friedrich Schiller.

Franz Liszt was the first great piano virtuoso to showcase his talent and skills on long-awaited tours that caused a furore all over Europe. The musician became a true wandering star who revolutionised the world of music, a visionary who changed the way concerts were organised. The “Lisztomania” came to an end in 1848, after nine years of incessant concert tours. Liszt, at the age of 36, tired and exhausted by success and fame, retired to Weimar to devote himself to composition. It was then that he composed his famous Symphonic Poems. Tickets for this concert can be purchased at this link.
