The Ibero-American Gastronomic Congress ‘Binómico’, which held its third edition in Huelva last week, has generated an advertising return valued at around seven million euros, according to the event’s organisers.
In a note released by the Congress, it is stressed that the event is consolidating its position as a world-class culinary reference and disseminator. It adds that, according to the company Hallón, which specialises in monitoring news and social networks worldwide, the media resonance “has been notorious” with “more than 1,700 news items generated worldwide with an echo that exceeds 210 million impacts and a return of seven million euros”.
“These numbers are not mere digits: they represent the scope of the event on the international stage and the strength generated for Huelva as a gastronomic brand with this event, dedicated in this edition to Colombia, which has transformed each presentation and activity into an opportunity to highlight its culinary and cultural richness,” the note underlines.
The mayoress of Huelva, Pilar Miranda, valued that “gastronomy is a powerful vehicle for promotion and cultural exchange”, an exchange that “has allowed us – she said – to get to know the richness of Colombian cuisine while transmitting all that Huelva has to offer the world” through the presentations, of which the mayoress highlighted the level, as well as the “street activities, with the food trucks and the involvement of the population through popular cuisine”.
The president of the Provincial Council, David Toscano, pointed out that “the synergies generated in the context of Binómico speak of the strength of this gastronomy and make Huelva the world epicentre of knowledge and learning of the culinary art.
For his part, the delegate of the Junta de Andalucía in Huelva, José Manuel Correa, stressed that the administration, sponsor of Binómico, has welcomed the fact that this event “continues to grow and is one of the most important gastronomic meetings of all those organised”.
“Thanks to Binómico, our products, characterised by their supreme quality, flavour and social, labour and environmental sustainability, are exported to the world and we cannot lose that. That is why the Junta de Andalucía will continue to stand by Binómico”, he assured.
Meanwhile, the sub-delegate of the Government, Manuela Parralo, stressed that “the suitability” of this initiative lies in the fact that “it highlights how typical and native gastronomy is being affirmed as a fundamental heritage for tourist development”.
A total of 81 speakers took part in the Congress, leading figures in the gastronomic world such as Leonor Espinosa, Francis Paniego, Andoni Luis Aduriz, Chef Tita and Pía Salazar, offering a programme “enriched with more than one hundred activities”. Fifteen Ibero-American nationalities were represented, “showing the confluence of flavours and traditions that converge in Ibero-America”.
The director of the Congress, Alberto de Paz, emphasised that “in just three years Binómico has managed to consolidate itself as a benchmark for the sector in the 22 Ibero-American countries, generating interest from these countries to be present in Huelva”.
