Colombia has offered Spanish companies the opportunity to invest in the infrastructure plan of Gustavo Petro’s Government, which contemplates the renovation of airports, railways and ports and promotes sustainable development and care for the “environment and people.”

Last Friday, the business meeting Strengthening the relationship with Colombia in strategic sectors was held at the CEOE headquarters, in which investment opportunities for Spanish companies with interests in this country were presented and in which the president of ProColombia participated. , Carmen Caballero; the Colombian ambassador to Spain, Eduardo Ávila; the first vice president of CEOE, Miguel Garrido; the vice president of Investment Promotion of ProColombia, Julio Puentes; and the general director of CEOE International and permanent secretary of CEIB, Narciso Casado.

During the meeting, Carmen Caballero assured that the reindustrialization policy promoted by the Government prioritizes the attraction of sustainable and long-term investment, transformative, balanced and fair to society, and assured that the motto Colombia, the country of beauty is not not only a communication and brand image strategy, but also economic development and a roadmap that contemplates the care of the environment and especially of people. Therefore, she warned, companies that want to invest in the country must commit to sustainable development and people.

For his part, Julio Puentes assured that Colombia is the third most advantageous economy in Latin America to do business, after Mexico and Brazil, and recalled that the country has 15 cities with more than 500,000 inhabitants and 27 cities with more than 250,000 and It has a young population that drives the internal market and the workforce.

The Colombian ambassador to Spain recalled that the Government’s infrastructure plan contemplates the renovation of airports, railways and ports and highlighted the rise of ecological, social and business tourism, which is expected to develop even more in the next three years. , thus helping to give a boost to more remote areas.

In his speech, Miguel Garrido recalled the large portfolio of projects that Colombia has in terms of infrastructure, the boost that the Petro Government wants to give to electric mobility, the interest in green hydrogen and the importance given to sustainability, science, technology or innovation. They are very compelling reasons, he added, for Spanish companies to continue investing not only in Bogotá, but also in the rest of the country. For his part, Narciso Casado assured that the success, not only of Bogotá, but of Colombia in general, lies, in addition to competitive advantages, in his talent and closeness, with a combination of perseverance, character, warmth and commitment that ” “It captivates the investor and invites them to stay.”
