The film Atlantic Bar, directed in 2022 by Fanny Mollins, is the film chosen by the Instituto Francés of Madrid for its Cinema for Women cycle, which will be screened tonight at 20:00.
With this film, its director won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Independent Feature Film at the Champs-Élysées Film Festival. In the bar “Atlantic”, Nathalie, the owner, is the centre of the bar. Here, people dance and sing, all together. When the bar is put up for sale, Nathalie and the regulars will have to face the end of their world and of a place, potentially destructive, but vital.
As the director delves deeper into this tiny territory on the outskirts of the upscale neighbourhoods of Arles, in the south of France, she invites the viewer to discover a story much richer than one might expect, a story made up of encounters, loves and dramas. Reservations must be made through this link.
