The Turkish Embassy in Spain has scheduled a series of events to commemorate the centenary of the Turkish Republic, which fell yesterday, October 29. According to a statement from the diplomatic legation, “we will proudly celebrate the centenary of the Turkish Republic and embark on our second century with the vision of the ‘Century of Türkiye’, dedicated to preserving the legacy of the Republic’s visionary foundations.”
The note adds a commitment to “work diligently to forge a brighter and sustainable future for our country in the fields of education, culture and arts, science, economy, environment, sports and women’s rights.”
In 2023, also coinciding with the 500th anniversary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy assures that “Turkey’s ‘Enterprising and Humanitarian Foreign Policy’ will continue to secure its national interests while contributing to the common goals of Humanity.”
Therefore, in addition to the National Day reception, which will take place today, Monday, in the coming weeks the Embassy has launched several activities, including the conference that took place on Friday at the National Library on relations between Turkey and Spain; the literary meeting ‘Women who transform‘, tomorrow October 31 at the National Library, with the authors Buket Uzuner and Teresa Agustin; a Turkish music concert on November 12 in Granada; the awards ceremony of the Hispanic-Turkish Chamber of Commerce, dedicated to the solidarity between the Turkish and Spanish peoples after the earthquakes (November 13, Madrid); gastronomic events at ‘Tomorrow Tastes Mediterranean’ (November 27-28 in Barcelona) and IBTM World/Global MICE Industry Expo (November 28-30 in Barcelona); and the Turkish Coffee Day on December 5 in Madrid.
The events agenda will continue in 2024 with an exhibition by Fikret Mualla in Madrid, performances by the dance group ‘Anadolu Ateşi’ (The Fire of Anatolia) in various cities, Turkish film weeks in various locations and Göbeklitepe Week that will include a conference, a gastronomic event and a photography exhibition by Isabel Muñoz.
