The second vice president of the acting Government, Yolanda Díaz, yesterday accused Israel of “war crimes” and violating the law with its attacks on Gaza.
Díaz, who participated in a demonstration in Madrid in support of Palestine, called for an “immediate ceasefire in Gaza,” pointing out that it is a call made throughout the world.
According to the leader of Sumar “it is evident that Israel is committing war crimes.” And she specified: “When we talk about this we are referring to the purification of legal responsibilities and we are talking about violation of international legality. There are no double standards.”
In this sense, he recalled that the United Nations has also condemned Israel’s war and requested a ceasefire, in reference to a resolution of the General Assembly to which Spain gave its favorable vote, in contrast to the vote against. or the abstention of several European governments.
While the acting Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares, spoke yesterday with his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan, about the “best way to move towards definitive peace” in the Middle East.
In a message on the social network X, Albares indicated that in the conversation they addressed “the humanitarian catastrophe” in Gaza and delved into the two-state solution in relation to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Likewise, the head of Spanish diplomacy presented to the Saudi Foreign Minister the initiative to hold an international peace conference once the violence between Israel and Hamas ceases, a proposal accepted by the European Council held last week, but for which no set a date.
