The Diplomat
The President of the Senate, Pedro Rollán, received yesterday in his office the Israeli Ambassador to Spain, Rodica Radian-Gordon, to whom he expressed the solidarity of the Upper House with the Israeli people after the “unjustified” attack by Hamas and wished for the prompt release of the hostages.
At the meeting, according to the PP in the Senate, Rollán defined Israel as “a land of opportunities”, with technology and innovation as its hallmarks and with the establishment of world-renowned companies.
For her part, the ambassador thanked the Spanish people for their solidarity and affection for the situation in her country, and for the continuous calls of support received at the Israeli embassy in Spain. She also denounced what she described as Hamas’s “psychological and media war” and stressed the importance of “containing” the war and preventing it from reaching other countries, according to the same communiqué.
The BNG senator, Carme da Silva, accused the president of the Senate of “partisanship” for meeting with the Israeli ambassador and not with the head of the Palestinian mission. In a letter, she reminded him that he is the fourth highest authority in the state and that “he must exercise his office with equanimity because, otherwise, he will be acting with double standards that are difficult to understand and explain”. “There cannot be first-rate victims and second-rate victims”, he denounced.
