The Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) has contributed 150,000 euros to care for the victims of the earthquakes registered since last October 7 in the province of Herat, in Afghanistan.

The contribution, provided this week through the AECID Humanitarian Action Office, responds to the emergency appeal launched by the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) after the humanitarian crisis generated by the earthquakes, which They have already affected more than half a million people, causing 2,445 deaths, more than 9,000 injuries and the destruction of around 2,000 homes, according to the agency in a press release.

Among the actions of this initiative is work in the shelter, health, water and sanitation, protection and food security sectors. In June 2022, the Spanish Cooperation contributed 200,000 euros to the IFRC appeal at that time to respond to the earthquake that occurred in the province of Paktika, in the east of the country.
