The singer of traditional Mexican music, Tonana, presents tomorrow Thursday at 7.30 pm in the Multipurpose Hall of Casa de México, the repertoire of her latest album, Amarus.

This word, which comes from Latin, amarus means “bitter, ochre, salty”, and is the origin of the word ‘yellow’. Tonana takes this meaning and is inspired to create Amarus, an album that represents the mourning of what is loved and is the inspiration to decipher the emotions one goes through.

This album is Tonana’s new music that, looking to the future, does not hide her long and successful career, as it includes sounds that reflect the current life of a singer who has always looked from the inside to her country, Mexico.

She will be accompanied by Javier Colina, a prestigious jazz double bass player, who has played with giants of jazz and Spanish music such as Bebo Valdés, Tete Montoliú, Silvia Pérez Cruz and Santiago Auserón, and the guitarist Ángel Chacón.

Tonana is one of the most profound and representative contemporary Mexican singers and composers today. Her proposal is a mixture of tradition and avant-garde; a mestizo sound that combines popular discourses of rock, blues, jazz, son and new age with expressions of folklore and Mexican popular music. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
