The GSLP/Lib coalition (Gibraltar Socialist Labor Party and Gibraltar Liberal Party) has won the elections in the Rock held yesterday, meaning its leader, Fabian Picardo, will renew the position of chief minister for a fourth term.
The coalition has obtained 49.9% of the votes, with an advantage of 1.9 percentage points over its competitor, the GSD (Gibraltar Social Democrats), led by Keith Azopardi.
The GSLP/Lib alliance has obtained 9 of the 17 deputies in the Gibraltarian parliament, allowing it to form a government.
The leader of the Gibraltar Liberal Party, Joseph García, current deputy chief minister, has surpassed the leader of the alliance and the other party in the coalition, the GSLP, the current chief minister. García has obtained 9,852 votes, eight more than Fabian Picardo, who has obtained 9,844.
19,256 Gibraltarians, 76.41% of those entitled to vote, took part in these elections.
