The Israeli ambassador to Spain, Rodica Radian-Gordon, requested yesterday that the EU provisionally suspend aid to the Palestinians with a view to carrying out a “very careful” review to determine “where this money is going”, considering that part of it is benefiting NGOs “connected to terrorist organizations,” including Hamas.
“We have evidence that this money helps finance terrorist acts,” she declared during an interview with the Europa Press agency. According to the ambassador, Israel has always warned that, in addition to the “totally legitimate” NGOs, there are “many” whose funds end up being diverted “to finance operations like the ones we have seen these days.”
In any case, Radian-Gordon thanked the support provided by Spanish authorities and citizens and did not want to go into assessing the difference in discourse between the different parties that make up the Government because, she specified, “I do not want to get involved in Spanish internal politics.”
Yesterday afternoon, some 500 people -according to data provided by the National Police- gathered in front of the Israeli Embassy in Madrid, in support of the country, condemning the terrorist attack by Hamas.
During the rally, protesters called for the resignation of Yolanda Díaz, leader of Sumar and acting second vice president for her stance in support of Gaza, chanting to applause: “Yolanda resignation.”
