The new ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Spain, Yao Jing, began his work last week, after presenting the Copies of his Letters of Credence at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Yao Jing, who replaces Wu Haitao, arrived in Madrid at the end of September and, days later, presented the Style Copies to the introducer of ambassadors, María Sebastián de Erice.
The new ambassador also offered a reception to mark his arrival and to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. Before a large group of guests, Yao Jing affirmed that China and Spain are partners in common development and said that the important consensuses reached by the leaders of the two countries must be put into practice and the China-Spain Comprehensive Strategic Partnership must be deepened.
Yao Jing, 54, was previously China’s ambassador to Afghanistan from 2015 to 2017 and Pakistan from 2017 to 2020. In January 2021, he was appointed director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of the Autonomous Region. Xinjiang Uygur.
