The Diplomat
The works of eight Dominican artists living in Madrid: Aronis Ramos, Jeannette Alfau, Manolo Romero, Erickdony Turbí, Dahiana Blanco, Luis Núñez, Waner Noboa, Taína Almodóvar and Carlos Segura, are the protagonists of the exhibition Reflections of the Caribbean, inaugurated by the Embassy of the Dominican Republic last Tuesday at AN-A Fundación (Calle Aviador Zorita, 46) in Madrid.
The ambassador, Juan Bolívar Díaz, highlighted at the opening ceremony the “commitment of the Embassy to collaborate with the Dominican community living in Spain, as well as the dedication and excellence of these artists and the dissemination of Dominican art beyond national borders”.
For her part, Luisa Auffant, Embassy counsellor and curator of the exhibition, underlined that “these works, of different styles, concepts and techniques, show the diverse characteristics and shared trajectories of Dominican artists in Madrid, united by the sense of identity with our Caribbean, intense and vibrant”.
The event was attended by members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Spain, representatives of international organisations, personalities from the Spanish cultural world and the Dominican community. This exhibition marked the beginning of the activities of the Hispanic Heritage Week, this year dedicated to the Dominican Republic, by the Dominican Community in Madrid, which will be attended by 42 Dominican artists from Santo Domingo.
