With the support of the Ukrainian Embassy and on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence, an exhibition of paintings by the Ukrainian artist Irina Nosok was inaugurated on 1 September at the Centro Cultural Galileo in Madrid (Calle Galileo, 9) and will be on display until Saturday 9 September.

Opening the exhibition, the Ukrainian Ambassador, Serhii Pohoreltsev, said that “today’s event demonstrates the ability of our people to show the world their inexhaustible creative wealth in the current extremely difficult conditions caused by Russian aggression”.

Artist Irina Nosok said, “Today I am presenting my new series of acrylic paintings inspired by the beauty of flowers and nature. Painting has been my passion since childhood. Each painting is a reflection of my emotions and the world as I see it”.

The Director General of International Relations of the Madrid City Council, José Herrera Antonaya, then took the floor, pointing out that “the struggle for the victory of Ukraine is carried out in many directions, not only on the front, where the victory will be the liberation of all Ukrainian territories from Russian occupiers, and in the humanitarian field”, and stressed that “Spain is ready to support Ukraine in all areas, including the cultural one, supporting the relevant Ukrainian initiatives”.

Finally, the curator of the exhibition, the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres de France Serhii Chaika, pointed out that “Spain is not the first time that it has given refuge to Ukrainian artists, as happened with Sonia Delaunay, who lived in Spain during the First World War and was the first woman to receive the right to hold a solo exhibition at the Louvre during her lifetime”. Serhii Chaika expressed his hope that Irina Nosok will have exhibitions in the world’s leading galleries.
