The new Costa Rican Ambassador to Spain, Adriana Bolaños Argueta, has presented the Style Copies of her Letters of Credence at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, formally beginning her work in our country.

Adriana Bolaños went to the Ministry’s headquarters last Tuesday, where she handed over her accreditation to the ambassadors’ introducer, María Sebastián de Erice.

The new diplomatic representative of Costa Rica replaces former vice-president Ana Helena Chacón, who left her post thirteen months ago, after the end of the Carlos Alvarado government and the arrival of Rodrigo Chaves to power.

Adriana Bolaños, who at the time of her appointment last June was director of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was also deputy foreign minister during Alvarado’s term in office.

A lawyer by profession, she worked for five years at the Costa Rican Central Bank and another five at the Executive Secretariat of the Central American Monetary Council. In 2013 she joined the diplomatic service and since then has held various posts in Quito, San Juan de Puerto Rico and Brussels.
