The Consejo Empresarial Alianza por Iberoamérica (CEAPI), together with The Adam Smith Center for Economic Freedom, part of Florida International University (FIU), has organised meetings with four Latin American presidents within the framework of the 78th UN General Assembly in New York.
As reported by CEAPI, its president, Núria Vilanova, and business leaders from the region met with Santiago Peña, president of Paraguay; Guillermo Lasso, president of Ecuador; Luis Abinader, president of the Dominican Republic, and John Briceño, prime minister of Belize, to exchange ideas on relations between Spain, the United States and Latin America, as well as to make the official presentation of the VII CEAPI Ibero-American Congress, to be held from 17 to 19 June 2024 in Cartagena de Indias (Colombia).
In addition to the institutional figures, the events were attended by businessmen such as Carlos Díaz-Rosillo, Director of The Adam Smith Center for Economic Freedom, and Christian Asinelli, Corporate Vice President of Strategic Programming at CAF.
At the meetings, the leaders explained the political, social and economic situation of their countries to their CEAPI interlocutors, and discussed the factors that the nations share, such as investment focuses and strengths ranging from the most traditional to other newer ones. “Latin American countries and their entrepreneurs are at a very positive moment that they should take advantage of with nearshoring, the demographic bonus, raw materials and the food chain,” stressed Núria Vilanova, who valued the holding of these meetings within the framework of the UN.
CEAPI considers that, with its 250 members, it has positioned itself as a benchmark within the growing business need to forge international ties between the Ibero-American region and the Spanish-speaking community in the USA. “We cannot ignore the growing integration between companies in Spain, Latin America and the United States, and CEAPI must be there,” said Vilanova.
The president of CEAPI also emphasised the importance of the ‘virtuous triangle’ formed by Spanish, Latin American and US companies.
The 7th CEAPI Ibero-American Congress will be a meeting point for presidents of leading companies and business families and will have the slogan: “Grow, Grow, Create Ibero-America in the face of the challenge of growth and productivity”. The event has the support of major entities such as the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF), which will be the sponsor.
