The acting First Vice President and Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, received yesterday the U.S. Ambassador to Spain, Julissa Reynoso, with whom she addressed, among other issues, bilateral cooperation in the regulation of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
“Very productive meeting with Ambassador Julissa Reynoso to strengthen our cooperation in the regulation of Artificial Intelligence, the semiconductor industry, the PERTE Chip (the Microelectronics and Semiconductors Strategic Project to strengthen chip design and manufacturing in Spain), the audiovisual sector and the reinforcement of the multilateral financial network,” Calviño stated through her official account on the social network X, formerly Twitter.
Among the objectives of the current Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union is the promotion of a European Artificial Intelligence Regulation (AI Act) and the creation of a global body for the supervision and regulation of AI. With this objective, the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission will develop in the coming months the negotiations to finalize the final text, which in principle will be approved before the end of the year and, therefore, within the Spanish semester.
