MAD Madrid Artes Digitales (Nave 16 of Matadero de Madrid) presents the exhibition The Last Days of Pompeii. An immersive exhibition based on one of the most moving moments in history: Pompeii, the city buried under the lava of the Vesuvius volcano as it had never been seen before.
An experience that will make the audience vibrate with the history, life, beauty and destruction of the famous city. A thrilling journey through the complex and fascinating Roman civilisation will take you to extraordinary places where you will discover that the city’s past retains all its vitality. A richly documented recreation that shows in detail the strength of this thriving and vital city just before its shocking destruction by the forces of nature, unleashed from the core of the mythical volcano Vesuvius.
In the immersive room you will experience a journey back to the glorious moment in history with the great discovery of Pompeii. You will walk through the present-day city along its shining stone roads, recalling the traces of the ancient Roman citizens, discovering a striking resemblance to modern-day cities, with their neighbourhoods, shops, leisure areas, public spaces and temples of the city. You will take a tour of the domus, the Roman house and its rooms, perceiving every detail and delighting in marvellous paintings of the most famous villas of the city. And finally, you will enter the bowels of the volcano to learn about the magmatic forces and the keys prior to the eruption, where you will discover the destructive and transforming power of nature, as well as the mysteries of the darkest night in the history of Pompeii.
The exhibition is the result of the fusion of emotions and knowledge, where technology is placed at the service of the cultural experience, combining the most cutting-edge digital media with a diversity of contrasted contents to be able to enter into the total experience of Pompeii.
