The Diplomat
The diplomat Arturo Avello died early last Friday morning in Madrid at the age of 71, after having been ambassador to several countries.
Avello, who had been ill for some years, entered the diplomatic career in 1979 and was ambassador to Equatorial Guinea between 1991 and 1994, to El Salvador (1995-1998), to Luxembourg (2011-2014) and to Egypt (2014-2018).
In addition, between 2004 and 2011 he was assigned to the Ministry of the Interior, first as advisor for international affairs and then as director general of International Relations and Aliens.
He was also Director General of Fisheries Resources at the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries; Ambassador-at-Large for International and Security Affairs, and for one year, between 2018 and 2019, he held the post of Special Delegate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Campo de Gibraltar.
