The Ministry of Culture of Taiwan and the Economic and Cultural Office of Taipei in Spain, in collaboration with the Filmoteca de Catalunya, present from 12 to 24 September 2023 the cycle Edward Yang. Four Taiwanese Stories, which includes a selection of films directed by the Taiwanese filmmaker, pioneer of the New Wave movement in Taiwanese cinema.
On the occasion of the opening of the cycle, on Tuesday 12 September at 8 p.m. and Wednesday 13 September at 6 p.m., the films will be presented by film specialist and former director of the Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute, Pin-Chuan Chen, who will delve into the work and legacy of director Edward Yang.
Considered by critics as one of the most important filmmakers of all time, this cycle pays tribute to the Taiwanese director through a careful selection of his most emblematic films: In Our Time (1982), Taipei Story (1985), Terrorizers (1986), and Yi Yi (2000). All screenings will take place at the Filmoteca de Catalunya (Plaza de Salvador Seguí 1, Barcelona).
