The National Police is bringing together in Madrid for three days the main anti-drug officials from Europe and Latin America, as well as from Morocco and Turkey, in order to deepen the importance of international cooperation that has allowed in the last five years the intervention in Spain of 370 tons of cocaine, 800 tons of hashish and more than a million and a half of MDMA tablets.
The Director General of the Police, Francisco Pardo Piqueras, yesterday inaugurated the Congress “Connections between Latin American and European Organisations in Cocaine Trafficking”, which is part of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union and is organised by the UDYCO Central of the General Commissariat of the Judicial Police.
“Spain is and will continue to be a hostile territory for the settlement of organised crime and drug trafficking”, the Police Director pointed out to 105 anti-drug police officials from Europe, Latin America, Morocco and Turkey, with more than 30 countries and delegations represented, according to the Police in a statement.
Coordination is fundamental, according to the police, to tackle the different problems such as the use of sailboats with large drug loads, fast boats and semi-submersibles or narco-submarines.
