The Second Vice-President and Acting Minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz, and five other ministers of Pedro Sánchez’s government will appear before the European Parliament tomorrow to present the priorities of the Spanish Presidency of the EU Council.

Along with Díaz, who will appear before the Employment and Social Affairs Committee, tomorrow the acting Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Pilar Alegría; the acting Minister of Universities, Joan Subirats; the acting Minister of Culture and Sport, Miquel Iceta; and the acting Minister of Social Rights and Agenda 2030, Ione Belarra, will appear before the Culture and Education Committee. Likewise, Belarra will also intervene before the Employment and Social Affairs Committee, as will the acting Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, José Luis Escrivá.

With these interventions begins the round of appearances of the acting Government, which will take place throughout the months of September and October, as reported yesterday by the European Parliament and the Spanish Presidency itself. Once the priorities have been set out, the MEPs will be able to discuss them with the ministers.

On September 19, it will be the turn of Nadia Calviño, First Vice-President and Acting Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, before the Industry, Research and Energy Committee; Héctor Gómez, Acting Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, with a triple intervention before the International Trade, Transport and Tourism and Industry, Research and Energy Committees; Luis Planas, acting Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, before the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee; Margarita Robles, acting Minister of Defense, before the Security and Defense Subcommittee; Raquel Sánchez, acting Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, before the Transport and Tourism Committee; and Irene Montero, acting Minister of Equality, before the Women’s Rights and Gender Equality Committee.

The round will continue the following day, September 20, when Luis Planas (Fisheries Committee), Nadia Calviño (Economic and Monetary Affairs) and José Luis Escrivá (Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs) will repeat their appearances.

The appearances will resume on October 9 with Fernando Grande-Marlaska, acting Minister of the Interior, before the Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs Committee, and will continue on October 26, with Diana Morant, acting Minister of Science and Innovation, before the Industry, Research and Energy Committee.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, will have two appearances in October, pending confirmation of the dates, specifically before the Foreign Affairs and Development Committees. Besides, another appearance of Albares in October is still to be confirmed, in this case before the Constitutional Affairs Committee.

Also to be confirmed and also in October, the interventions of Teresa Ribera, third vice-president and acting minister for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, before the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety and Industry, Research and Energy committees; Pilar Llop, acting minister of Justice, before the Legal Affairs and Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs committees; and José Manuel Miñones, acting minister of Health, for the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety committee, are foreseen.
