From the 8th of September to the 7th of October, the ¡Hola Rio! festival comes to Casa América, an initiative that will bring the richness of Rio de Janeiro’s artistic production, promoting cultural exchange in a meeting that aims to celebrate the diversity of arts and culture.
¡Hola Rio! is the result of a partnership between Casa de América, the Social Service of Commerce (SESC) of Rio and the Government of the State of Rio de Janeiro, through its Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy. A festival designed to recognise and promote the creative power of both countries through multiple artistic experiences that connect and transform the public.
It will connect with more than 30 artistic performances of theatre, dance and music, as well as exhibitions and audiovisual shows, and with the participation of nearly 110 Brazilian artists, managers and producers. Thus, the Madrid public will be able to experience Samba and Bossa Nova, as well as Favela Funk, and musical references from the Amazon region. Through the exhibitions, visitors will also get to know street Brazil, its most bohemian areas and its popular culture. The film screenings will bring the viewer closer to women, black people and the LGTBI+ collective. As for the dance and theatre performances, there will be a repertoire ranging from world classics to the most contemporary performances that are outside the traditional circuits. The programme of the festival can be consulted at this link.
