On the occasion of today’s 31 August celebration of the Romanian Language Day, the Instituto Rumano de Cultura is organising, in collaboration with the Romanian Embassy and Universitatea de Vest din Timișoara (UVT), a photographic exhibition dedicated to the city of Timișoara, European Capital of Culture 2023: Timișoara – European heritage and culture, which will be on display at the Institute’s Gallery in Madrid (Plaza del Cordón, 1, bajo derecha), from 1 to 30 September.
The opening will take place tomorrow at 19:00. Representatives of the Romanian Embassy and the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova will speak, as well as the journalist Carlos Pascual of the newspaper El País. A video message from the Rector of the Vest (West) University of Timișoara will be screened. The participants of the opening will be able to choose a book in Romanian, offered free of charge by the Romanian Institute.
The exhibition includes 35 photos with a multigenerational vision: 23 of them taken by students from the Faculty of Arts and Design of the University of Vest, presenting the vision of young people on the cultural and human heritage of the city, symbol of the Romanian Revolution and a modern peaceful and democratic society, while Marius Popovici, former vice-president of the Timișoara County Council, took the other 12 photos.
The event takes place in the framework of the cultural programme At WVU, Culture is Capital, included in the Cultural Programme Timișoara 2023 – European Capital of Culture, financed by the Municipality of Timișoara.
