Técnicas Reunidas has been awarded a 516 million euro contract by Qatar-Energy to carry out engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) work at North Field, the world’s largest natural gas field not associated with an oil field, located in the northeast of the Qatari peninsula.
The tasks to be carried out by the Spanish company include pipelines, interconnections, auxiliary systems and other support components for the offplot liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities of this project, according to the company.
Specifically, the contract signed will focus on the LNG dewatering pipelines, the boiloff gas (BOG) return and the utility pipelines that will connect the southern area of the industrial city of Ras Laffan with new storage tanks and with the export facilities in its northern area, according to Europa Press.
The scope of the project also includes the commissioning of new LNG tanks, as well as LNG loading bays, BOG compressors and associated equipment.
Técnicas Reunidas is currently executing various EPC works for the expansion of the storage, distribution and associated systems for condensate, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and methane gas at the North Field expansion project.
It is also developing, through a joint venture with Wison Engineering, the EPC works for a sulphur treatment facility, also for the North Field project.
North Field’s capacity represents 10% of the world’s known natural gas reserves and makes Qatar the country with the third largest proven reserves worldwide.
“This award consolidates Técnicas Reunidas’ relationship with QatarEnergy, as the Spanish company is working on large-scale projects related to the expansion of the North Field project from 2021,” the company said.
