The Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) has activated the emergency agreement it has with the NGO Save the Children to strengthen the humanitarian response to the crisis suffered by people affected by the recent floods in Haiti, according to a press release.
“Some 400 families in the Haitian departments of Sud and Grand’Anse will benefit from this initiative, which will contribute, over the next five months, to guaranteeing food security, access to drinking water and hygiene and the protection of the population,” the Spanish agency said.
The project, which will be funded with 193,905 euros by AECID, includes the donation of inputs to restore agricultural activities, hygiene kits – including personal hygiene, household and water purification products – and cash transfers, as well as awareness-raising sessions on child and family nutrition.
