The Diplomat
The new ambassador of the Czech Republic, Libor Sečka, has already taken up his post and last Monday he was at the Civitas Metropolitano, the stadium of Atlético de Madrid, where he was invited to watch the match of the red and white team against Granada C. F.
Having just arrived in Spain, Sečka met the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, at the stadium, with whom, as he explained in his X account, he had a cordial meeting.
The ambassador was photographed with Albares and with the president of Atlético de Madrid, Enrique Cerezo, who gave him a team shirt with his name and the number 10.
Libor Sečka , who replaces Ivan Jančárek, was already posted in our country between 1990 and 1995, the last three years as ‘number two’ of the Embassy.
In 1999, he was appointed Ambassador to Mexico and, a year later, Permanent Representative to the European Union. Between 2003 and 2006 he was Ambassador to Italy and Malta and then returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Director General for the European Union, a post he held until 2009.
From 2009 to 2015, Libor Sečka was Ambassador to China and from 2015 to 2021, to the United Kingdom and until his appointment to take over the Embassy in Madrid he was the Foreign Ministry’s Special Envoy for the Indo-Pacific area.
