The eight Spanish Eurofighters that have been guarding the Baltic skies since 1 August have already completed their first flights to intercept unidentified Russian aircrafts approaching Atlantic Alliance airspace, according to Lieutenant Colonel Luis Borque in a video conference with the acting defence minister, Margarita Robles, from the Ämari air base in Estonia.
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Spain has increased its troops in Latvia -from 350 to 600-, multiplied its air police missions in the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea, in addition to its permanent naval contribution to NATO missions in the Mediterranean.
