Spain will allocate 100,000 euros to help 500 families affected by last month’s torrential rains in the province of Esmeralda (Ecuador), according to the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).
In a press release, the AECID, which reports to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, indicated that in order to respond to the humanitarian crisis caused by the floods in Ecuador, it has activated the collaboration agreement it has with the Spanish Red Cross, aimed at dealing with such situations.
With the 100,000 euros, Spain will essentially contribute to guaranteeing food security, access to drinking water and the protection of the population.
Among the actions of this initiative, which will be carried out over the next six months, are the provision of economic assistance for 200 families and the distribution of filters to improve access to drinking water for 350 families.
