Iberian ham has been distinguished as one of the 100 Best High Quality Brands in China by the Southern Metropolis Daily, one of the country’s most prestigious media outlets.
As reported by the Interprofesional del Cerdo Ibérico (ASICI) as part of the campaign Jamones Ibéricos de España, Embajadores de Europa en el Mundo (which is supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the EU), the Chinese experts have taken into account its flavor and aroma, its production process and its commitment to the environment.
For ASICI, this recognition – awarded by the Southern Metropolis Daily in an event held on June 29 in Shanghai – is “another clear manifestation of the intrinsic value that the product is acquiring in the international markets in which it is present”.
“It is a great honor that Iberian ham has entered the list of the 100 Best High Quality Brands’ in China,” declared Raúl García, president of ASICI. This achievement “puts the spotlight on quality and the excellence of our product, as well as the dedication and effort of all the professionals who make up the sector,” he continued. “Iberian ham is much more than a foodstuff. We are talking about gastronomic heritage, the rural world, the landscape that provides it, and sustainability”, he added.
Jamones Ibéricos de España has shared the list with some of the most recognized brands in the market, including Rémy Martin, Voss, L’Oréal, Sam’s Club, Starbucks or Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts. All these brands have been awarded and valued, among other things, for their commitment to sustainability and the high quality of their products. Iberian ham has been included in this list of award-winning brands in the Food & Beverage category, for which only seven brands were selected.
Southern Metropolis Daily, the media outlet that awards this recognition, is widely recognized for its influence and reach in southern China. With a circulation of 1.4 million copies daily nationwide, the media outlet plays a crucial role in disseminating relevant and quality information. The 100 Best High Quality Brands in China are selected by an outstanding committee composed of several authoritative associations of the hotel and restaurant industry from different provinces and cities in China, making this award one of the most prestigious in the country.
