During the whole month of August and on the stage of the Teatro Reina Victoria in Madrid (Carrera de San Jerónimo, 24), the shows Tres Culturas (from 2 to 13 August), about the origins of flamenco; Zarra (from 16 to 27 August), by Adriana Bilbao, a tribute and recognition to the emblematic footballer Telmo Zarraonandia, and FoliaJazz (from 30 August to 3 September), by Iván Gómez, a fusion of jazz and the avant-garde of Spanish dance and flamenco, can be seen.

Tres Culturas is a show that explains the origins of flamenco. Something that is unknown to the vast majority of the public is that the roots of flamenco are Arab, Jewish and gypsy. A journey through time led by expert flamenco speakers and under the artistic direction of Tito Losada, in which we visit an Iberian peninsula of the past, where a large number of cultures coexisted, as a geographical and cultural confluence between Europe and North Africa.

The dance work Zarra is a tribute and recognition of the emblematic figure of Telmo Zarraonandia, Zarra (1921-2006), top scorer in the Spanish league for sixty years. It is a perfect blend of dance and flamenco, with the sporting elements associated with football, emphasising the strength and nerve that characterised him and keeping in mind the sporting and human values that made the legend great.

Finally, Foliajazz is the first large-scale production of Spanish dance, jazz and flamenco with live music by the new professional company created by the director and choreographer Iván Gómez. This production focuses on the most avant-garde movement of Spanish dance and flamenco with a corps de ballet of 8 dancers and 5 live musicians. Tickets for all three shows can be purchased at this link.
