The State Secretary for Foreign and Global Affairs, Ángeles Moreno Bau; and the president of the Spain-India Council Foundation, Juan Ignacio Entrecanales, discussed this week the activity and agenda of the Spain-India Observatory, created at the end of 2022.
Entrecanales, executive vice president of Acciona, met last Tuesday with Moreno Bau at the Marqués de Salamanca headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to present the Foundation’s activity plan and the activities for the second semester and the projects for 2024 of the Spain Observatory -India (ObEI), an initiative of the Spain-India Council Foundation (FCEI) inaugurated in December 2022. This meeting was a continuation of the one held on February 1, 2022, in which the president of the FCEI presented the Observatory Spain-India to the Secretary of State.
In this second meeting, Ángeles Moreno congratulated the Foundation for its ambitious plan of activities and highlighted its important role as a public diplomacy tool to strengthen ties with India. After this meeting, the director of the FCEI, Berta Fuertes, and the director of ObEI, Cristóbal Alvear, held a meeting with the Indian ambassador in Spain, Dinesh Patnaik, who highlighted the great work of the Observatory and the good planning of the activities planned. In addition, the FCEI met on July 19 with the Spanish ambassador to India, José María Ridao, who highlighted the growing importance of the Observatory as a generator of knowledge and promoter of bilateral exchanges.
Since its inauguration in December 2022, the Observatory has designed an active schedule of activities, bringing together important personalities, such as the Indian political scientist Raja Mohan at the Observatory’s presentation; the EU Ambassador-at-Large Mission to the Indo-Pacific, Richard Tibbels, and the Director of Connectivity and Digital Transition of the European External Action Service, David Ringrose, at the First Spain-India Dialogue; the president of the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), Samir Saran at the II Spain-India Dialogue; or the former Minister of Foreign Affairs Arancha González Laya.
