Eliades Ochoa, Sole Giménez (in the photo), Lee Fields, Carlos Sadness, Lucas Vidal and Brainsnachers, are some of the proposals for the coming weeks in the Veranos de la Villa festival, organised by Madrid City Council’s Department of Culture, Tourism and Sport.
After a month of July full of cultural and leisure activities at different venues in the city, which has brightened up the summer for the people of Madrid, Veranos de la Villa continues its programme with a month of August in which music will play a prominent role.
The Patio Central of the Centro Cultural Conde Duque will host Eliades Ochoa, one of the great soneros of Cuban music and founding member of the Buena Vista Social Club, who comes to the festival to present his new album Guajiro, in which he collaborates with artists such as blues harmonica player Charlie Musselwhite, Fania All-Stars legend Rubén Blades and Joan Wasser.
As we already reported in The Diplomat, on August 8 and 9, the YAMATO Drummers, with the collaboration of Fundación Japón, will present their show Tenmei-Destiny, in which through powerful beats on the wadaiko (drum), a traditional Japanese instrument, they will create an energetic atmosphere that will trap spectators in a unique sensory experience. The programme of the Veranos de la Villa festival can be consulted on its website.
