Tomorrow Tuesday at 7.30pm, Casa México presents singer and songwriter Vivir Quintana in its multi-purpose hall. Admission is free.
This artist is a composer, a normalista and a woman who fights for the eradication of gender violence in Mexico. Her music, a pioneer of the “blue ranchero” genre, unites folkloric tradition with new artistic languages that speak of love and rupture as well as of social wounds as deep as feminicide. Her most representative song, Canción sin miedo, has been covered and translated all over the world, becoming an anthem for the feminist struggle that cries out for justice for the murders of women.
Quintana is an artist who has shared stage and recordings with artists such as Mon Laferte, Rubén Albarrán (Café Tacvba), Andrea Echeverri (Aterciopelados), La Marisoul, Coro El Palomar, Leiden and Paz Court. He has also composed songs for several films, such as Noche de fuego (Tatiana Huezo, 2021), Amalia en el otoño (Anna Utrecht and Octavio Lasheras, 2020) and Las tres muertes de Marisela Escobedo (Carlos Pérez Osorio, 2020), among others. Throughout his career he has received several awards, including the Éxito SACM 2021 award for best independent song.
