As part of the activities promoted by the Spanish Presidency of the European Union, the eighth edition of Opera Week at the Teatro Real is being held, with a strong audiovisual profile, with the broadcasting, on the screen installed in the Plaza de Isabel II, of four shows on successive days, from today to 15 July, all at 9 pm, which can be followed free of charge in the square, with 1,000 seats available, which can be occupied on a first-come, first-served basis, until full capacity is reached.
Today Wednesday, at 9 p.m. a concert by the tenor Javier Camarena and the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada will be broadcast; tomorrow Thursday a performance by the bailaor Eduardo Guerrero in Flamenco Real; on Friday 14th July the big date with the broadcast of the opera Turandot, by Giacomo Puccini, and on Saturday 15th July a performance by the New York City Ballet.
The opera Turandot, on stage at the Teatro Real until 22 July, will be broadcast free of charge in squares, cultural centres, museums, auditoriums and theatres throughout Spain. TVE will record the opera, in co-production with the Teatro Real, and will broadcast it on a deferred basis. Throughout Opera Week, a 40% discount will be offered on the purchase of annual and half-yearly subscriptions to MyOperaPlayer.
On Saturday, 15 July, between 10.00 am and 2.00 pm, there will be an Open Day. Attendees will be able to participate in drawings for various prizes through QR codes available in the different areas of the Teatro Real.
