In view of the imminent general elections to be held on 23 July, the Círculo de Bellas Artes and the Fundación Gabeiras are organising a debate on the cultural programmes of the main political parties from a legal-cultural perspective under the title Culture at the centre of the political debate. Free admission until full capacity is reached.
Manuela Villa (PSOE), Jaime de los Santos (PP), a representative of VOX and Getsemaní San Marcos (SUMAR) will present their electoral programmes at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid on Thursday 13 July at 11 a.m. in the María Zambrano hall, and will debate the main urgent issues in the cultural sector that the government resulting from the next elections will have to address.
The cultural journalist Juan Cruz will be the moderator of this debate, which is open to the public and free entry until full capacity is reached, and which can be followed live via streaming at the following link.
The cultural sector has identified with precision the problems and difficulties that endanger the sustainability of culture in our country. In this sense, last May the Gabeiras Foundation presented the Catalogue of emergencies in the cultural sector at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza. A text published openly that includes a series of cross-cutting proposals, both national and regional, as well as other sector-specific ones. The proposals contained in the catalogue are the result of an in-depth legal analysis of all the problems raised by the sector itself and collected during a day of working groups that brought together different voices and agents involved in the cultural sector.
